Golden Hour Shenanigans in the Rocks
Some couples just get each other — in every look, every laugh, every ridiculously funny pose. Brett and Irene are that kind of couple. Goofy, magnetic, and full of spontaneous energy, their engagement session at Vasquez Rocks in Agua Dulce, CA was nothing short of golden (literally and emotionally).
Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park is one of the most iconic engagement photo locations in Southern California — known for its jagged sandstone formations, wide desert skies, and cinematic views. (Yes, Star Trek filmed there. Yes, it’s that cool.)
We arrived just as the sun started casting that honey-colored glow across the rocks, and Brett and Irene immediately brought the energy. There was no stiff posing, no staged smiles — just genuine laughter, wild dancing, and hilarious “serious” model faces that had all of us cracking up between shots.
From running through the dusty trails to striking faux-dramatic poses like it was the cover of an indie album, these two made the entire session feel like a romantic comedy with the best soundtrack.
Candid Photography for Playful Souls
If you’re a couple who hates the idea of “posed” photos — Brett and Irene are your spirit animals. Their session was the perfect mix of motion, fun, and raw connection. They weren’t afraid to be ridiculous together. They made up goofy dance routines. They laughed until their cheeks hurt. They paused for those soft, breath-catching moments in between the chaos. And through it all, they trusted me to follow their rhythm and tell their story honestly.
That’s exactly what By Evening Photography is all about. I shoot in both film and digital, blending the beauty of timeless editorial imagery with the raw emotion of documentary-style engagement photography. No fake moments, no awkward poses — just you, in love, doing your thing.
